Katherine Gorge
Katherine Gorge, now officially Nitmiluk Gorge, is a majestic series of thirteen gorges in Nitmiluk National Park, Northern Territory, Australia. Located about 30 minutes northeast of Katherine, the gorges are carved from ancient sandstone by the Katherine River and offer spectacular scenery. Visitors can explore the area by river cruises, canoes, helicopter flights, or on walking trails. The park is also culturally significant to the local Jawoyn people, who call it Nitmiluk, meaning "place of the cicada dreaming".
